- Description
- This notice is to amend the initial announcement on March 12, 2002 on combined Synopsis/Solicitation # F33DOL20560100. The following changes are to be made: (1) Change the Requirements by replacing it with the following: The application of this instrument is primarily to analyze metal alloy samples of varying sizes with elemental concentrations from 1 part per million to 100%. The instrument should be capable of direct analysis of solid samples, with minimal sample preparation, using Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AA) coupled with a Glow Discharge (GD) type sampler/atomizer. The instrument must be capable of direct sample analysis of solids without acid digestion. The instrument should have a large sample compartment capable of accommodating samples of different sizes. Typical sample size may vary from 1 quarter inch in diameter to approximately 1 square foot. The instrument shall be capable of detecting and measuring 71 elements including carbon. Sodium, carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, chromium and nickel are primary matrix interference elements and the instrument must be able to analyze and measure alloys containing high levels of these species. The AA/GD shall be a turnkey instrument capable of analyzing conductive and non-conductive solid samples of varying sizes. The GD sampler must not be of the Spark Ablation type since tungsten is a primary species of interest and since most spark ablation samplers contain tungsten electrodes. The system shall be capable of quantitative depth profiling as an option. The instrument shall be PC controlled and shall be provided with software for data handling, control, and continuous monitoring of operating parameters and instrument functions. The PC should have the following configuration as a minimum; Pentium III, 1-GHz, 60 GB hard drive, Windows XP or 2000, non-integrated 3Com 10/100 mbps Ethernet card, 64MB Video Card, 512MB RAM, Sound Card, 40x CD ROM, Internal ZIP 250 drive, USB mouse, USB Keyboard. The software package should include a library of common elements for spectral comparison or validation of samples. Delivery shall include at least one software version upgrade of control and library software packages over two years after installation. The instrument should be delivered with the following 14 hollow cathode lamps (Ti, Mn, P, S, Si, Cu, Ni, Cr, Mo, Al, V, Ta, W and Fe), and be calibrated for the analysis of high strength, low alloy steel such as the 4xxx and 5xxx grades. Calibration shall be included in the base price of the instrument and shall include at least two certified standards to be used for drift correcting and setting up. One certified standard should be of the same high strength, low alloy steel type used to calibrate the instrument. The second certified standard should be of the supperalloy type, such as MAR-M-247, and contain a minimum 1 percent by weight each of Ti, Ta, and W. Purchase price shall include shipping and installation. Purchase shall include onsite operator familiarization training, and at least two days of formal training for one person covering practical applications, maintenance, calibration, spectral interference corrections, quality control, and software. Purchase shall include a minimum one-year warranty from date of installation. Other common terminology associated with this type of instrument includes; Atom Source Atomic Absorption (AAA), Glow Discharge Atomic Absorption (GDAA). (2) Response date is extended to 10 April 2002. (3) Questions shall be submitted to William P. Mitchell, E-mail william.mitchell@eglin.af.mil, phone 850-882-4802 ext. 5261. All other terms and conditions of the original announcement remain unchanged.
