Description
The US Army TACOM-ARDEC is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources for the purchase of two (2) lathes that will be integrated with a PC- based controller. 1) The contractor will purchase two identical lathes that will have the capability of machining titanium with an accuracy and repeatability of 0.0001 inch. 2) The lathes will have the ability to cut parts that are at least eight (8) inches in diameter, twenty-five (25) inches in length with a twelve (12) inch bore. 3) The contractor will supply a controller integrated into the lathe hardware with software that must be unbundled, open-architecture in design that uses no proprietary hardware or motion control cards, and it must also be production proven. 4) The system must run on off-the-shelf PCs and Microsoft Windows operating systems. 5) The contractor will also provide single controllers that include modules for Human- Machine Interface (HMI), machine diagnostic tools, soft Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), software motion control, and real-time data collection and distribution capability. 6) The contractor will also provide a controller that has standardized Application Programming Interface (API), and will allow for rapid addition of new capabilities and customize the controller for specific applications.
