- NASA/GSFC is hereby issuing Request For Information (RFI) 5-VC130-096. This document is for information and planning purposes and to allow industry the opportunity to verify reasonableness and feasibility of the requirement, as well as promote competition. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)/Goddard Space Flight Center conducts education and outreach programs and operates a facility - the Goddard Visitor s Center - which is used as a welcome center for guests to the Center as well as a meeting/ conference site for NASA-sponsored functions. The GSFC Visitor Center (Bldg 88) is an approximately 27,000 square foot building located adjacent to the Goddard Space Flight Center off of Soil Conservation Road, in Greenbelt, Maryland. The Goddard Space Flight Center is hereby soliciting creative approaches from potential sources in industry for the commercial development and/or use of the GSFC Visitor Center in main areas: Public Programs, Goddard Education Resource Center, Goddard Conference/Meeting Center, and Goddard Partnership Zone. Included in this solicitation is a document containing detailed information about each of these potential requirements. As part of this Request for Information (RFI), Goddard welcomes innovative ideas or approaches for commercialization of any, any combination or all of these activities. Ideas and approaches to commercialization are not limited to the use of this facility, but can also include other off-site locations. Ideas may address forming partnerships or other collaborative relationships with commercial, academic or other governmental organizations (or combinations thereof) to satisfy educational and outreach functions, as well as to create expanded meeting/ conference space - which may include off site facilities as well as modifications to or expansion of the current visitor center facility, that could be used by both NASA-sponsored and non-NASA groups. Interested parties are hereby invited to submit ideas/creative approaches to meeting the requirements of this RFI. Submissions to this RFI are not, and will not be considered as official proposals to provide these services. It is intended that the submission will be used by the Government to determine the feasibility of this approach, the degree of interest in the industry, and to aid in the formulate requirements for a potential future solicitation for proposals. Any submissions to this request shall be limited to no more than 20 pages, including attachments. Additional instructions for submissions are included in the attached document available for download. Submissions are due no later than April 30, 2002, and shall be submitted to the address included in the attached document. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. The Government may invite respondent in for further discussion of ideas and concept. All questions must be submitted in writing and directed to Patrick Logan at Patrick.logan@gsfc.nasa.gov or faxed to 301-286-1654. We will not respond to telephone inquiries. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet.
