- Description
- The Coast Guard is seeking information from potential sources who can develop, install and certify a replacement for the existing Jettison Style Emergency Locator Transmitter, P/N 125370-1, with a new fixed mount, three (3) frequency, digital Emergency Locator Transmitter and Antenna for it?s HU-25 aircraft fleet. The existing jettison style Emergency Locator Transmitter will be removed and discarded. The deployment jettison system and mechanism will be disabled and the wiring capped and stowed. A new three (3) frequency Emergency Locator Transmitter will be installed in the fuselage aft equipment bay. A new Single Feed Antenna will be installed in the upper vertical stabilizer under the tip cap. Activation and testing will be accomplished by a multi-function switch mounted in the cockpit in a CG approved location. The existing tail cone jettison cover will be modified, to prevent inadvertent separation from the aircraft or may be permanently replaced. The successful contractor shall be required to supply a complete engineering package, installation instructions, non-proprietary drawings, and component maintenance manuals to the CG. The installation process will be a joint venture with the first aircraft being completed by the contractor. CG personnel will complete the second aircraft with the contractor?s assistance. Subsequent aircraft installations will be accomplished CG personnel utilizing contractor supplied kits and engineering data. The purpose of this synopsis is to determine possible sources for ELT replacement and to reduce costs to the Coast Guard. Organizations having the required expertise, capabilities, and an acceptable quality system are invited to submit complete information packages. Responses and comments do not constitute a proposal: but rather, will be considered as an open exchange of capabilities and ideas. The information contained therein shall pertain to this synopsis only. The Government does not intend to pay for the information received. Any interested organizations must submit their data in writing within 30 days of this announcement to Mr. J. J. Tirak at the address given above. The CG?s point of contact is Mr. J. J. Tirak at (252) 335-6877 or FAX (252) 334-5424. This is not a request for proposals.
