Description: The 38 EIG/PKK intends to procure on a sole source basis local telephone service for Pope AFB NC. The intended contractor is Carolina Telephone & Telegraph CO dba Sprint. The contractor shall continue to provide the existing service. The period of performance shall be 9 months from the current expiration date of 5 May 02 or until the new competitive contract is in-place. The primary place of performance will be Pope AFB NC. This sole source acquisition is justified under 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1). A competitive solicitation has been issued but service with Sprint must continue until the new contract is awarded. The Government intends to extend the current Communication Service Authorization (CSA) written against Basic Agreement DCA20097H0059. Note 22.
