Description
OFFADD: Ogden Air Logistics Center, Contracting Officer, OO-ALC/LHKC Bldg 1206 , 6039 Wardleigh Ave, Hill AFB UT 84056-5838 SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR INFORMATION - LIFE CYCLE SUPPORT FOR TELEPHONE SWITCHING SYSTEMS DESC: This Request for Information (RFI): (1) announces Air Force intentions to provide centralized life-cycle support for telecommunications Voice Switching Systems worldwide. Support will include upgrades, expansions, acquisitions, and repair of failed components internal/external to the switch; and, (2) provides an opportunity for industry and other interested parties to make inputs to this decision process by assisting Ogden Air Logistics Center in their efforts to understand market capabilities, existing contracts, and any other pertinent information for planning purposes. Although the contract will be managed by the Air Force, it is anticipated other Department of Defense (DoD) activities (e.g., Navy, Marine Corp, and the Defense Information Systems Agency) will utilize this contract. Applicable Voice Switching Systems consist primarily of the following switch families with associated peripherals and transmission media equipment: 1. Avaya Definity G3r and Definity G3si/G3i Private Branch Exchange (PBX) 2. Hitachi America, Ltd. DX/HDX/HCX5400 Private Branch Exchange (PBX) 3. Lucent Technologies Lucent 5ESS and AT&T 5ESS Central Office (CO) 4. Mitel Networks SX-2000 and SX-200 Private Branch Exchange (PBX) 5. NEC America, Inc. NEAX2400 Private Branch Exchange (PBX) 6. Nortel Networks Corporation SL-100/DMS-100/DMS-200 Central Office (CO) and Meridian 1 Private Branch Exchange (PBX) 7. Siemens Corporation HICOM 300, HICOM 350 and HICOM 372 Computerized Branch Exchange (CBX) This is not an RFP or IFB; the only purpose of this RFI is to obtain industry comments and is to be used by the Government for informational purposes only. The Air Force does not intend to award a contract or contracts on the basis of this request, nor will we pay for the information requested. Currently, the only known sources are Avaya, Hitachi America, Ltd., Lucent Technologies, Mitel Networks, NEC America, Inc., Nortel distributors, and Siemens Corporation. These vendors, have the requisite expertise, resources and experience to support the switching systems, associated peripherals, and transmission media equipment for their individual product lines. The potential future solicitation may allow for multiple awards depending on the response received from this announcement. Contractors interested in receiving a copy of the Draft Statement of Need, Questions for Industry, and Draft List of Current and Future Sites, should submit an electronic mail (email) request to Robert Sleight at Robert.sleight@hill.af.mil no later than April 15, 2002. No telephone requests will be accepted. Only email requests received directly from the requester are acceptable. Contractors must respond to the Draft Statement of Need and Questions for Industry by May 15, 2002. Email response to the Draft Statement of Need and Questions for Industry is preferred; however if documentation or literature must be mailed, please so state in your email response and a mail address will be provided.
