Description
NA The U.S. Army Robert Morris Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division located at the U.S. Army Soldier Biological & Chemical Command, Natick, MA is conducting market research to identify potential commercial sources to provide COTS, NDI or near NDI B ody Armor Flotation Vest (BAFV). The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is currently applying for approval of a Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) Project (www.acq.osd.mil/sts/fct). USSOCOM is interested in obtaining information from and p ossibly contracting with vendors who are currently using the most advanced technologies and methodologies in the design and fabrication of items which, when used in conjunction with body armor can provide positive buoyancy in an emergency situation for a c ombat loaded Special Operations Forces Operator. The current soft ballistics within the armor will provide ballistic protection to the body armor flotation vest. The system may incorporate both manual and automatic activation mechanisms. Responses to th is market survey are due on or before 01 May 2002, and must include a product description with performance parameters and a statement regarding current availability, summary of prior testing, test reports, summary of logistic and maintenance requirements a nd an estimated cost for the price of test articles and production units. If a firm chooses to submit a sample, the Government will make no payment for such samples. The intent is to review and assess product literature, select and obtain a limited quanti ty of production representative products that best meet USSOCOM items. These items will be subjected to testing and evaluation. If items are successfully evaluated under this FCT project, there is a potential for additional procurement of the production un its. All information submitted shall be considered confidential. Interested firms should indicate in their response whether or not they are a small or large business. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 314999, the size stan dard for which is 500 employees or less to be considered a small business (formerly the SIC Code).
