Description

The Naval Air Systems Command, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), intends to award a Firm Fixed Price, Sole Source contract, for two (2) units, to L-3 Communications Systems-East, Camden, NJ for the Shared Reconnaissance Pod (SHARP) Data Storage System (DSS) Interface Units (IU) that are currently planned to be use in SHARP related ground stations. The SHARP is an airborne reconnaissance pod that uses the DSS to store the acquired reconnaissance imagery and associated support data. The DSS consists of two weapons replaceable assemblies; an IU, and a Data Storage Cartridge (DSC). The IU is mounted within the pod structure and is interfaced to the SHARP Reconnaissance Management System and mated with a removable DSC. L-3 Communications Systems is the only company that possesses the engineering expertise, technical propriety data, and experienced personnel necessary to perform the efforts associated with this procurement. Therefore, L-3 Communications Systems is considered to be the lone qualified source capable of responding to the Government's requirement.
