- Description
- Provide Professional Engineering services to prepare the design development program, preliminary drawings, working drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and construction period services to facilitate award of a construction contract to renovate Acute Care Unit at the VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Michigan. The project will modernize and provide necessary critical power and support systems to meet current codes and standards. All designs and installation will be in accordance with current and the most stringent VAMC, NEC, NFPA, IMC, IPC, IBC, state, local, and all federal codes. In addition, incorporate energy savings equipment and design modifications for current energy usage to the most efficient and economical level possible. In addition, it will support all associated equipment and systems necessary for modern Medical/Surgical operations. Demolition of existing architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing items are included in the project. Some of the work involved includes removal of walls, new walls, upgraded electrical, mechanical, plumbing, new and/or relocated equipment, flooring, ceilings, cabinets, fire protection, and finishes. A small build out on a roof of the existing building is anticipated. Estimated construction cost is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Area of consideration is restricted to 300 driving miles of the Iron Mountain VA Hospital, Iron Mountain, Michigan. Selection criteria will be based on: (1) Past performance on similar projects, maintaining project schedules and project budgets; (2) Overall engineering design experience and capability with architectural, plumbing, mechanical, energy conservation, electrical, communications, and data renovation projects; (3) Qualifications of staff to be assigned, with special emphasis on field personnel to be utilized; (4) Knowledge in design and construction requirements; (5) Cost control effectiveness; (6) Location of office supporting project. NAICS code is 541330. A/E firms, which meet the requirements listed in this announcement, are invited to submit two copies of Standard Form 254 and Standard Form 255 by May 6, 2002.
