- Description
- NA The U.S. Army Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD) is considering developing an alternate source of supply for the cast strongback and rail struts used in the assembly of the existing Quad-Hellfire Rocket Launcher (NSN:1440-01-122-8965). The curr ent drawing package indicates that the strongback (P/N 13010026) and rail struts (P/N 13010028) are permanent mold cast using A356-T6 aluminum. AATD is seeking information specific to the manufacture of these parts. A partial Technical Data Package (TDP) i s available for your review from the point of contact listed below. To be suitable for consideration, the products must have manufacturing and production characteristics, to include surface conditions and dimensional tolerances identical to the existing a ssets. Additionally, the products must satisfy the inspection and qualification instructions provided in the notes section of the TDP. However, proposals suggesting contemporary manufacturing processes utilizing equivalent or superior material forms will b e considered. AATD requests a cost accounting for production quantities of 50, 500, and 4000 units. Please specify recurring and non-recurring costs to include start-up and production costs, material costs, acquisition lead-time (ALT) and production lead time (PLT). This request is for purposes of exchanging information to improve understanding of the Government requirement and industry capability and for information and planning. This announcement should not be construed as a commitment by the Government to purchase strongbacks or rail struts. Any information submitted by industry will not constitute an offer which could be accepted by the Government to create a binding contract. Written responses are requested by 1 May 2002; however, earlier dialog is e ncouraged. Address responses to the Aviation Applied Technology Directorate, ATTN: AMSAM-RD-AA-F (Marc Portanova), Bldg. 401, Lee Blvd, Ft Eustis, VA 23604-5577. Dr. Portanova may be reached by telephone at (757) 878-4238 or by e-mail at mportanova@aatd. eustis.army.mil.
