Description

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services intends to award on a sole source basis under Simplified Acquisition Procedures with Cognizant Corporation, 1501 McLean Corner Lane, McLean, Virginia 22101, a contract for time series data for 2000 and 2001 from the retail method of payment report; total number of prescriptions dispensed by cash, prescription card, and Medicaid by state; total retail dollars financed by cash, prescription card, and Medicaid for each state; data for 2000 and 2001 from the NPA plus: number of new prescriptions, number of refill prescriptions; pharmaceutical acquisition dollars and total retail dollars. Other government agencies have relied exclusively on the use of the National Prescription Audit (NPA) database available from Cognizant Corporation, for their research projects. No other data set computer design used to collect the data, and the use of sophisticated sampling techniques employed by Cognizant makes their data base a superior one. If there are no affirmative written responses received within (15) calendar days from the published date of this notice, a purchase order shall be awarded.
