Description

The Social Security Administration seeks a contractor to provide maintenance and repair of an existing mail delivery system located at the Addabo Federal Building in Jamaica, Queens, NY. System was installed in 1989 and is comprised of two metal vertical tracks located in the building core, which reach from the sub-basement to the 11th Floor. Mail is moved along the tracks by means of 160 individually-powered mail cars which are guided by a magnetic system. There are two control/monitoring stations. The system also includes relays, switches, power sources, and a signalling buzzer system. The contract requires an on-site technician to respond to stoppages, and to perform ongoing preventive maintenance. Contractor shall provide all supervision, management, labor , and materials necessary for the maintenance, testing, and repair of the system and its components, so as to ensure its continuous operation. Request for Quotation to be issued approximately April 22, 2002 with responses due approximately May 15, 2002. Contract is to begin approximately June 1, 2002 with a base period of one year with provisions for four additional one-year option periods. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR 13.5 - Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The solicitation is a 100% small business set aside. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered. All requests for this solicitation must be made in writing.
