Description
The intent of the project is to renovate a portion of the 1st floor for the U.S. Marshals Service. Structural reinforcement on the basement level will be required. Work in the basement level will require relocation of stored materials. Demolition work includes: walls, finishes, ceilings, fireproofing, fire protection, and electrical. New work includes: structural glazed concrete block, terrazzo flooring, security mesh doors and partitions, security fixtures, carpeting, walls and partitions, ceilings, doors and frames, new mechanical mezzanine, HVAC, exhaust, lighting, power, security device conduit and boxes, plumbing and millwork. The existing underfloor duct raceways shall not be used for installation of new electrical and data lines. Sawcutting of existing concrete topping will be required to install new flush-mounted floor devices. No structural drawings for the building are available. The building is a historic structure. The main corridors are to be protected and remain in-place. Repair, cleaning and polishing of the existing terrazzo floor in the historic public corridor is included. Lead based paint is present. The contractor is responsible to monitor for other hazardous materials. Special working conditions are required while working in a U.S. Court facility. Work which creates noise or vibrations, such as coring and sawcutting, will be required to be performed after-hours or on weekends. The work shall be performed in two concurrent phases. Completion time is 180 and 345 calendar days for phases one and two, respectively. The estimate price is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. This procurement is open to all business concerns in accordance with the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. NAICS is 233320 with size standard of $28.5 million. This is a negotiated-best value procurement. A pre-proposal conference is planned, details will be in the solicitation. The solicitation will be issued o/a April 29, 2002. The solicitation includes Sensitive But Unclassified building information and will not be available on FedBizOpps.
