Description
Three projects: 1) Repair Airfield Drainage, Phase I. Excavation of 20-30,000 CM of existing ground for new/improved storm water runoff ditches within the airfield?s unpaved infield area. Construction of four reinforced concrete headwalls with flap gates for two existing 1067mm diameter corrugated metal pipe culverts. Construction of two reinforced concrete headwalls with flap gates for a new 762mm diameter reinforced concrete pipe culvert approximately 46 m in length. All excavated material shall be hauled to and placed at the Thule AB landfill. 2) Repair Taxiways, Phase I. Removal of existing 51-242mm thick asphalt pavement and 152mm thick base course over an area of approximately 25-30,000 SM in size. Scarification and re-compaction of the top 152mm of existing subbase course. Placement of new 127mm thick asphalt pavement and new 152mm thick graded-crushed aggregate base course. Painting of all new asphalt pavements white with red markings. 3) Repair Aprons, Phase I. Removal of existing 108mm thick asphalt pavement and 152mm thick base course over an area approximately 25-30,000 SM in size. Scarification and re-compaction of the top 152mm of existing subbase course. Placement of new 127mm thick asphalt pavement and new152mm thick graded-crushed aggregate base course. Painting of all new asphalt pavements white with red markings. All asphalt removed under this contract shall become the property of the Contractor?s and removed from Thule AB. Magnitude: $1,000,000-$5,000,000. The anticipated performance period is between Summer 2002 and October 2003. It is anticipated that only the Airfield Drainage project will be funded in 2002. The other two projects will be exercised only if funding becomes available in 2003. The summer at Thule Air Base is extremely short and shipment of materials can only take place in June/July. Special Note: All discussion leading to contract award shall take place at the Contracting Office located in the Embassy of the United States of America, Copenhagen, Denmark. All parties responding to this synopsis and any costs incurred as a result of subsequent discussions prior to award of contract are the sole responsibility of the interested parties. Interested parties can obtain a copy of the solicitation, specifications and drawings by requesting in writing to, Detachment 1, 21 Contracting Squadron, PSC 73, APO AE 09716 or Detachment 1, 21 Contracting Squadron, U.S. Embassy, Dag Hammarskjolds Alle 24, DK 2100 Copenhagen O, Denmark. Please provide your e-mail address. It is anticipated the solicitation and all specifications and drawings will be available electronically, however, they will also be made available via CD-ROM. If you require a CD-ROM, your Federal Express Account Number will be required. The project will also be forwarded via courier service to interested parties cash on delivery (COD). The solicitation is restricted to interested parties in the United States, Denmark and Greenland only. Funds for these projects are currently not available and only the first project is expected to receive funding in 2002. The solicitation is expected to be ready for release around 15 May 2002.
