Description
The Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health provides laundry processing and tailoring services which consists of more than 50 buildings on a 300 acre campus in Bethesda, Maryland. NIH also supports laundry services for the Animal Center in Poolesville, Maryland; and programs at The National Naval Hospital, and several rental buildings in Bethesda, Baltimore, Gaithersburg, Rockville, Maryland. The National Institutes of Health has a requirement for a Small Business Set-Aside with performance based commercial services for the laundry and garment acquisition. The standard (NAICS) code is 812332, Industrial Laundry Cleaning and Garment Services. The NIH's Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center currently operates a laundry for a 350 bed hospital devoted solely to research. The laundry supports all patient care, animal care, laboratory and service functions at NIH. The performance period is anticipated to be for (1) one base year, beginning on July 1, 2002, with (4) four consecutive (12) month option periods. Services to be provided are the pickup of soiled laundry; cleaning and delivering of laundry located on and off the NIH campus 7 days a week (365) three hundred sixty-five days per year which includes Federal Holidays and during inclement weather. Also supplies various sewing and mending alterations including size changes, repairs on all uniforms and other garments. A Fixed Price Requirements type contract with performance based measures will be used for this service. This requirement has been determined to fall within the definition of Commercial Services as defined in FAR 2.101. Consistent with the requirements of FAR 5.203(a) and (h) -publicizing and response time, this proposed contract action shall be published in the Federal Business Opportunity 15 days before issuance of a solicitation. The solicitation for this requirement will be available on or about March 25, 2002 with a closing date approximately 15 days after issuance. Requests for solicitation must be submitted in writing via mail, fax or email. No telephone requests will be accepted.
