- NA The Department of Defense (DoD) announces a Defense Travel System (DTS) Demonstration available to any current DoD Travel Management Service provider (Commercial Travel Office/CTO), any interested party considering a proposal submission for the DoD DTS Tr avel Management Services solicitation, or any interested Global Distribution System provider interesting in responding to a DoD request for information on a DTS-GDS solution. Interested large and small businesses are encouraged to participate in the DTS d emonstration. DTS Demonstrations: The Demonstration being offered is designed to give attendees an understanding of the DTS concept and functionality and will validate the transfer of travel requests from DTS to different Global Distribution System(s) (GDS). Demonstrations will take place at TRW Inc., Fairlakes, Virginia from 1000-1200 on April 29, June 3, and July 23, 2002. You may submit a request to attend one of the demos at the email address below. Request for Information from Commercial Travel Office (CTO) Providers: The draft DTS CTO statement of work is posted on the Defense Travel System website at the web address below and is posted for industry review and comment. The statement of work identifies requirements to provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials , supervision, and other items and services necessary to perform official Travel Management Services for the DoD. The solicitation for Travel Management Services will be provided for authorized official travel performed by DoD travelers assigned to organi zations in their respective travel areas. The DoD has established 18 travel areas within CONUS with some areas being set-aside for small business participation and anticipates awarding multiple contracts from the solicitation, with the potential to award one contract per travel area and one per small business set-aside location. Multiple areas may be awarded under one contract if doing so is in the best interest of the Government. Interested CTOs are requested to schedule a session with the Government to present their comments and suggestions on the statement of work at one of the dates/times indicated below. This is a voluntary Industry-Government exchange. Interested CTOs wantin g to submit written comments and/or suggestions may do so in the format found on the DTS website. The Government does not plan to formally respond to Industry questions at this time as this effort is focused on receiving input from Industry on their best business practices and how they may be applied to the DoD travel service procurement. Six sessions for Government/Industry exchange are as follows: May 8, May 15, and May 22, 2002 at both 1300 and 1430. Request for Information from Global Distribution System Providers: DoD is requesting information on possible solutions for a single GDS for the Defense Travel System. Interested GDS providers are requested to schedule an Industry/Government information exchange session to present their proposed solutions. Solutions shou ld include relevant business analysis addressing changes in the GDS business environment, the technical aspect of interface possibilities with DTS and how all future DoD travel management service providers (CTOs) would be supported. Sessions for GDS provi ders are available at both 1300 and 1500 on June 4, and June 6, 2002. Further details on the information provided in this announcement may be found at http://www.dtic.mil/travelink.
