- Description
- The NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) intends to solicit proposals for advanced technology developments in support of the Space Communications Project (SCP) in the Aerospace Enterprise's Computer Information, Communication and Technology (CICT) Program. These technology developments are required to meet the NASA Enterprises long term needs in space communications. This NRA solicits both hardware and software technology proposals in the thematic areas of Space Communications Project which are: 1) Design, Simulation, and Analysis of Intelligent Communication Architectures, 2) Advanced Technologies for High Rate Space Backbone, 3) Flexible Access Network Technologies for communication links to space backbone, 4) Inter-spacecraft Network Technologies for Spacecraft in formation flying/clusters/constellations configurations, and 5) Innovative Proximity Wireless Network for surface and in-space applications. The proposals are expected to address technology developments at concept to early stages of maturity, and through appropriate risk reduction activities, shall advance the technology readiness level of the proposed effort by at least one level. The proposal must define the initial technology readiness level for the proposed work, the exit technology readiness level and success criteria, and the metrics for the same proposal activity. The results at the exit point must provide convincing evidence that the final technology product can make a strong contribution toward meeting NASA needs and can be integrated into an on-going technology development program within one of the NASA Enterprises. All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the NRA is May 06, 2002, with an anticipated offer due date of June 21, 2002. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet.
