- Description
- The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is contemplating the issuance of a Solicitation for a suite of non-developmental 105mm artillery projectiles. The High Explosive (HE) projectile suite type must be capable of achieving the lethality equivalent to the M107 HE projectile and achieve ranges of current in-service 155mm 39 caliber systems. All projectiles within the suite must have ballistic similitude and use one common set of firing tables. The suite of ammunition desired is HE Preformed Fragmented projectiles, as well as Smoke and Illumination projectiles. Information regarding the availability of a reduced cost HE or practice variant with the same range should also be provided. The projectiles offered should be capable of being fired with M200 105mm propelling charges from the M119 howitzer, and have compatibility with equivalent NATO lightweight howitzers. Respondents offering assisted and unassisted variants must ensure that the projectiles have the ability to change from a boat tail configuration to a base bleed configuration without affecting the overall projectile mass. The design should permit this change to be made at either the gun position or re-supply area manually with a simple hand tool. All respondents must document ammunition performance. Respondents must also provide historical information supporting the company?s capability in the areas of system engineering, system integration, production, and its ability to meet planned vs. actual contract cost and schedule requirements. All respondents must also provide information on the advantages and disadvantages their prospective systems, i.e., the transfer of producibility technology for these systems to the Government, and compatibility/interoperability with the existing United States 105mm ammunition Industrial Base. TACOM-ARDEC hereby requests that any firm that may have the capability of meeting this contemplated requirement provide a Statement of Capability and supporting rationale to Ms. Deborah G. Bankit at Area Code 973- 724-3455 so that it may be properly evaluated prior to synopsis and solicitation of the requirement.
