- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Carl Zeiss, Inc., of Thornwood, NY, for acquisition of one (1) Confocal Fluorescence Imaging Microscope System to be used in the Semiconductor Electronics Division, at NIST.*****Installation and training at the NIST laboratory shall be included. In addition, a one-year on-site warranty on parts and labor shall be included.*****Sole source determination is based on the need for 100% compatibility between the Confocal Fluorescence Imaging Microscope System and the Carl Zeiss LSM 500 System currently in existence at NIST. The two systems will be used to collect and analyze the data and standardization of measurement methods in collaborative work being done between the Semiconductor Electronics Division and the Polymers Division on their respective Single Molecule Manipulation and Measurement and Tissue Engineering and Single Molecule Manipulation Projects.*****Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 180 days or less from receipt of purchase order (ARO).*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 Employees.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by May 6, 2002, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.*****
