Description
SUBJECT?NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD ON A SOLE SOURCE BASIS Desc: The General Services Administration intends to award a sole source contract with Harris Corporation, 1680 University Avenue, Rochester, NY 14610. This contract is to procure the RF-5800U-MP which is a member of the FalconII family of multiband tactical radio systems. This advanced software reprogrammable digital radio supports continuous operation across the 90 MHz to 420 MHz band with 20 W FM and 10 W AM transmit power with Havequick I/II capability. The RF-5800U-MP meets the need for both military and civilian ground-to-air communication in a single package, while providing interoperability with Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems. Voice communications are provided in 8.33 and 25 kHz channels to support the evolving air traffic control standards. Standard features of the RF-5800U-MP include 100 programmable radio presets, full RS-232 remote control support, multiband scan, radio-to-radio preset cloning, a swept frequency distress beacon (available on any channel), and CTCSS tone support for LMR repeaters. The radio is interoperable with Havequick I/II ECCM in voice and data modes. When coupled with the standard external GPS Precise Lightweight GPS Receiver (PLGR) compatible interface or optional internal GPS receiver, Havequick TOD can be obtained directly. The optional exportable Harris CITADEL TMbased encryption provides high speed digital encryption for either voice or data traffic and can be customized as required. The RF-5800U-MP is interoperable with the AN/PRC-113(functional replacement), URC-200, and AN/PRC-117 radios. These units are identical to the ones previously installed at NAS Fallon and these units will maintain the established communication equipment baseline of compatability, staff experience, configuration, setup, repair and parts replacement. Any other manufactured units would impact the operator, maintenance and the established logistics support structure and would require new engineering analysis and testing. This notice of intent is not a request for quotation (RFQ) for competitive quotes. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
