Description
Laser transmitter is required to have the following specifications: Flash lamp pumped Alexandrite laser with tunable high power output. The tuning range is from 720 nanometers (nm) to 800 nm. Pulse duration from 50 to 100 nanoseconds. Pulse energy should be greater than 0.1 Joule at 727 nm and the repetition rate 30 pulses per second or higher. Pulse energy measured at the peak wavelength has to better than 200 mJ (2E-1 Joule). Require continuous-wave diode laser injection seeder to warrant laser spectral width less than 60 Megahertz (MHz) at 727 nm. Proof of meeting the spectral width requirement is required. Require that the laser oscillator based on a ring cavity configuration to warrant wavelength stability and high power operation. Long-term spectral stability is required to be better than 100 MHz /hour and 300MHz/day. Require resonator with shot-to-shot active stabilization of the cavity length to ensure a Single Longitudinal Mode output. This feature is critical for the operation of the Differential Absorption Lidar and temperature Lidar to be built with this laser. Beam divergence is required to be better than 1.5 times the diffraction limit for top hat or gaussian output. The manufacturer has to show that they have demonstrated and delivered systems meeting these requirements. Require references and proof that systems delivered by the manufacturer have been used successfully in LIDAR systems. It is required that the manufacturer is capable of providing an upgrade for future operation in the near infrared range (0.9 to 2 micrometers) and ultraviolet range. Manufacturer has to demonstrate that they have delivered these upgrades. Require that the optical and electrical systems be constructed in a modular configuration to facilitate future repair and upgrade. Only 60Hz electrical power requirements are considered. Small businesses (companies of 500 or fewer employees including all affiliates) intending to bid are asked to notify the Hanscom small business office at 781-377-4973 or david.condon@hanscom.af.mil.
