- Description
- NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the renewal of an annual software maintenance of MTS IDEAS engineering software for 10 sites at NASA LaRC. The proposed period of performance is one year with an option for one additional year. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from MTS Systems Corporation as the only know source who can meet agency requirements. The proposed effort is for software maintenance on existing MTS Systems software programs installed on various computer workstations at NASA LaRC. These software products are used for acoustic and structural vibration testing and analysis and are fundamental tools used to develop airframe and synergistic space systems technologies. As the original developer of the software, MTS is the only known responsible source who can provide the technical support, modifications and upgrades to the LaRC owned software. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on May 03, 2002. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
