- Description
- The Federal Highway Administration plans to negotiate a Purchase Order with the Roadway Safety Foundation (RSF) to provide a Marketing Plan for Sign and Pavement Marketing Retroflectivity. RSF will develop a strategic communications and marketing plan to raise general public as well as safety professionals? awareness for minimum retroflectivity levels for signs and pavement markings. Additionally, RSF will develop a promotional kit of written materials to market retroflectivity. The marketing plan will serve as a management tool for safety products and technologies; RSF will review retroflectivity program issues, products and provide a marketing plan for the FHWA. RSF will issue a plan that will coincide with FHWA?s strategic marking plan for deploying safety products that are related to technology that are currently under development through the FHWA resource centers. The RSF will develop written promotional kits that will be distributed to State and local highway agencies and the motoring public. The overall program will focus on how retroflectivity enhances nighttime mobility and safety. Because the Roadway Safety Foundation (RSF) will be supporting, educating, and working directly with the FHWA in promoting public awareness regarding roadway safety in addition to providing enhanced improvements in roadway design and engineering, operations, and protection from roadside hazards which will reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities; therefore, RSF is the only known source who can provide the marketing services, personnel, products and technology to the highway community for the FHWA. RSF will be partnering with the FHWA, State and local highway agencies to market their products for roadway safety. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about May 9, 2002.
