Description
Request for Information/Sources for Suppressive Fire Weapons. The Government requests information on replacement weapons for transport helicopters. The replacement weapons shall be offered as a system comprised of gun, ammunition feed/storage system, power connection (if required), and mount. The weapons should be a high rate of fire, 500 rounds per minute minimum, gas or battery (DC) powered machine gun. They will be mounted in the doors, ramps, and windows of helicopters. The weapon's (gun) weight should not exceed 150lbs. The preferred weapon system could be carried from the aircraft for defensive use. Standard NATO/U.S. Army caliber of ammunition is preferred. The information provided should contain as a minimum: Weight, (gun and system), Caliber, Max Effective Range, Max Range, Rates of Fire (max and min), Ammunition Containment and Handling, Mounting, Spent Casing and Link Control, Photo or 3-D Representation of Weapon System, Shock Load Data (Pear Recoil, Vertical, Lateral, Horizontal Loads and Mass Moments of Intertia, (Ixx, Iyy, Izz)). Negotiations for procurement of an unspecified number of systems could begin as early as June 2002. Interested vendors need to be willing and available to participate in a weapons static display at Ft. Campbell, KY at a date to be specified.
