Description

The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), Pacific Northwest Regional Office, intends to award a contract to the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes to conduct a Class III level (on-the-ground) cultural resources inventory in the vicinity of (and including) the Fort Hall National Historic Landmark, Fort Hall Indian Reservation, Idaho. The inventory is the first step in achieving Section 106 cultural resource compliance for future actions designed to reduce the adverse effects of bank erosion that currently threatens the historic fort. Information derived from the Class III inventory relating to sensitive cultural resource sites and their protection needs will serve as a basis for planning and implementing future bank stabilization efforts in accordance with Reclamation's Congressionally mandated 2001 bank erosion study report. Information about the nature and location of properties of traditional cultural and religious value to Indian peoples is confidential, sensitive, and unavailable to the public. Tribes are very concerned about information from these types of sites getting into the wrong hands. Only the Shoshone-Bannock have knowledge about the nature and location of their traditional cultural properties and sacred sites and, thus, are the only entity that can reasonably conduct an inventory of these places for Reclamation. The NAICS is 541720 and the size standard is $5 million.
