Description
The basic intent of this contract is to conduct a training program that will provide training opportunities for unemployed and disadvantaged youths, ages 16 to 26, in the trade of welding and related skills. The primary purposes of the program are to: 1. Help individual students develop positive work habits and attitudes. 2. Provide technical knowledge to students in the welding trade. 3. Educate and train individual students in the development of marketable skills at the entry level in the welding trade. 4. Place individual students who successfully complete the welding training program by making concentrated efforts to: a. find and obtain employment as welders in industry, or b. get them accepted into apprenticeship or other advanced training programs in the welding trade. The intent of this contract shall be accomplished by utilizing the Department of Agriculture/Forest Service Civilian Conservation Center and the techniques and standards of the Contractor. Training shall be a combination of classroom and work experience training for the purpose of acquiring specific fundamental skills in the welding trade for which there is an established need for additional manpower to meet the requirements of industry. Trainees shall perform all work normally performed by the trade. The training will be conducted at Department of Agriculture Pine Ridge Civilian Conservation Center located 11 miles south of Chadron, Nebraska on Highway 385. The Contractor shall furnish two full-time instructors on site to conduct and administer the welding training program. Instructors shall meet the following qualification criteria. 1. Must be a Certified Welder or have an Industrial Arts teaching degree. 2. Must be thoroughly competent in the theory, practices, and skills of welding. 3. Must have the ability necessary to instruct in the welding field in classroom and shop settings. 4. Must be capable and willing to communicate, work, and counsel with young males and females, ages 16 to 26. 5. Must be able to obtain a valid Nebraska Driver's License and a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's Identification Card, SF-46. SEE NOTE 1.
