Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Bruker Biospin Corporation of Newark, DE, for one (1) state-of-the-art 600 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Digital Spectrometer console. The digital spectrometer will be used by the NIST Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology (CARB) to develop and maintain competitive research programs in the area of macromolecular structure and function.***Sole source determination is based on Bruker BioSpin Corporation being the only source who can provide a high performance digital NMR spectrometer that will be 100% compatible with and will generate data that can be transferred and utilized with existing high performance digital NMR equipment. In addition, only Bruker BioSpin's NMR Digital Spectrometer will be compatible with and can be interfaced with a Bruker BioSpin Cryoprobe accessory system which is scheduled for installation this summer.***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 90 days after receipt of order.***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees.***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by May 2, 2002, will be considered by the Government.***A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
