Description

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has a requirement seeking support for the National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) related to the development of critical infrastructure components for the NBII network of Regional and Thematic Nodes. The National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) serves as an electronic gateway to biological data and information products maintained by federal, state, and local government agencies; non-government institutions; and private sector organizations in the United Sates and around the world. The USGS NBII Program is: 1) seeking to expand it?s Biocomplexity databases, 2) continue the development of the human population and the environment databases 3) complete development and maintenance of a Biocomplexity thesaurus 4) develop a minimum of 12 Best Practices and Techniques per year related to conservation or ecosystems management, invasive species, and/or other hot biological/environmental topics 5) develop an e-journal for distribution of NBII related research activities and efforts 6)develop and operate a ?Center for Ecotourism?. Concerns having the ability to furnish the services described herein are requested to give written or faxed notification (including telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within forty-five calendar days from the date of the synopsis. Based on the information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers the item specified as a sole source from the Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA) and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required item/services or its functional equivalent (based upon the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Government?s only official notice of this procurement. NAICS Code is 514191. Refer to note 22.
