- Description
- This is a synopsis to advertise a requirement for the Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC) Edwards AFB. The requirement is for prototype design, initial development and test of Flight Termination Receivers-Decoders (FTR) and Flight Termination Command Transmitter-Encoders. The prototype design will be flight tested on Tactical Aircraft at Edwards AFB, CA. The design will employ CPFSK (PCM/FM) modulation, addressable data formats and National Security Agency (NSA) encryption. Prototypes shall operate within the current Department of Defense Range Safety radio frequency spectrum. The design validation will be based on recommendations from the Range Commanders Council Range Safety Study #38. The study will provide both decoder and encoder performance specifications for design validation. Specific goals for EFTS design validation, without penalty to current performance with respect to acquisition threshold, additive white Gaussian noise detection efficiency, received signal quality sensitivity, and phase noise sensitivity: (1) Prototype Non-Qualified Flight Termination Receiver (2) Prototype Command Transmitter digital encoder, exciter, encryptor, and switchover unit. (3) System flight tests. (4) Software enhancements to improve spectral efficiencies. (5) Proof of concept prior to full development and deployment. The Government anticipates multiple award of one-year contracts. This will be a full and open competition. The Solicitation number is F04611-02-R-0025. The anticipated date of release for the solicitation is 6 May 2002.
