- The U.S. Geological Survey anticipates awarding a contract on a sole source basis to Autometric, Inc., of Alexandria, Virginia for software and hardware maintenance.. Performance requires the Contractor to have a high-level security clearance. The software and hardware to be maintained are located in Reston, Virginia and Denver, Colorado. Options for additional systems bought in the future will be included. These additional systems may be at locations throughout the United States. The Contractor would be required to provide maintenance and source revisions for the following configuration: HARDWARE INFORMATION: SGI Servers (Challenge L and Origin 2000), SGI Workstations (Indigo, Indigo2 Extreme, Octane, O2), SUN Workstations (Sparc 20, Ultra 2, Ultra 10), all associated disk drives and controllers (including replacement of drives that cannot be returned), all associated boards, all associated monitors (some stereo) and Crystal Eyes Stereographics Emitters, tape drives (8 mm, DLT, 9-track, Metrum 2150 and 2150i), Network hardware (HIPPI, but not including the communication lines themselves), PC-type workstations (NT and XP 2000), output hardware (Agfa laser film recorder, Falcon ColorGetter scanner, HP2000 DesignJet plotters); SOFTWARE: Irix operating system, SUN operating system, Softplotter Professional, Data Master ver. 2.1, National Models, and Terramodel, surface modeling. Sources offering software maintenance must have a license agreement with Autometric, Inc., as they are the original manufacturer and have proprietary rights. The anticipated period of performance for this contract will be a base year with four option years. Potential sources for the required hardware and/or software maintenance services are invited to provide an affirmative response within 30 days of the publication date of this notice. The anticipated date of award is 9/30/02. Interested parties may respond with information on capabilities for both hardware and software maintenance or they may respond with only the capabilities for only hardware or the software. Responses should include full technical information on the vendor in such detail to enable the Government to confirm the submitter's capabilities to maintain the hardware and/or software. All responses will be evaluated in order to determine whether that firm has full knowledge of the USGS's requirement for maintenance of existing hardware and software in accordance with the above mandatory requirements. An affirmative response shall include literature, brochures, and other such information corresponding to the required items that demonstrates the capabilities of the offeror's services. All responses must be in writing; no telephone responses will be accepted. This notice of intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY; NO COMPETITIVE RFP WILL BE AVAILABLE. Information will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination to compete this requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 541519. This requirement is a continuing action and Autometric is the only known source who has the skills and knowledge required to perform the maintenance services. Numbered note 22 applies.
