- Description
- The Office of Naval Research (ONR) intends to negotiate with BAE Systems Aerospace, Inc., CNI Division, located at 164 Totowa Road, Wayne, NJ 07474-0975 on a sole source basis (Numbered Note 22) to provide support to the Joint Task Force (JTF) Wide-Area Relay Network (WARNET) Program. This transition and transformation process stems from the Office of Naval Research ELB ACTD which now will insert interim\placeholder wireless communication technologies, as found in the AN/VRC-99A(C) radio, into wireless communications architectures planned by transition partner organizations. The capabilities of the AN/VRC-99A(C) radio were developed, integrated, field-tested, and enhanced as part of the test and evaluation process of the ELB ACTD program. BAE Systems provided follow-on enhancements to the AN/VRC-99A(C) radios that were demonstrated in MSD I to support the final systems design of the ELB ACTD WARNET and fabricate additional AN/VRC-99A(C) radios to support interim testing with operational forces. BAE Systems also made specific enhancements that allowed more dynamic networking capability of the AN/VRC-99A(C) radios to support the final ELB ACTDD C4ISR communications architecture, now incorporated into the JTF WARNET architecture. The design and drawings of the AN/VRC-99A(C) radio are proprietary to BAE Systems. The JTF WARNET transition process will provide further opportunities to enhance, test, and improve this technology as it is incorporated into other programs. The required start date for this effort is 01 July 2002. Responses to this notice must be received within 45 days of publication of this notice.
