Description
The Department of Defense, Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technology Division is requesting information for commercially available carts to aid in transporting equipment. Descriptive literature to include detailed product performance, quality, quantity currently in use, reliability, warranty, and points of contacts is requested. The purpose of the cart is provide EOD technicians the ability to transport gear to an incident site alleviating the need for them to hand-carry items. Desired capabilities of the cart include: ability to collapse, fold, or contract so that it may be conveniently stored when not in use, low system weight +/- 35 pounds, capability to carry a minimum of 100 pounds of equipment, and ability to maneuver over rough terrain by self-propulsion, manual pulling, or towing behind a small vehicle. The information from this market research effort will be utilized to understand the ability of commercial and non-developmental items to meet projected needs. Desired capabilities are not absolute thresholds; they are supplied as a guidance to determine if an item could meet the needs of military EOD personnel. The system is not necessarily required to meet all of the capabilities listed, they are supplied as a guidance. This announcement is NOT a formal solicitation and is NOT a request for proposal. Availability of any formal solicitation will be announced separately. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Firms responding should indicate whether they are a small business (S), a small disadvantage business (SDB), a small woman-owned business (WO), or lage business (L). Each response must reference the sources sought title. Interested entities should submit responses to Pat Griffin, NAVEODTECHDIV Code 052, 2008 Stump Neck Road, Indian Head, MD 20640-5070. Faxed responses are acceptable at (301) 744-4046, Attn: Pat Griffin, or send a email to griffinpa@eodpoe2.navsea.navy.mil. Responses must be received no later than close of business on May 31, 2002. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP). THERE IS NO COMMITMENT ON THE PART OF THE U.S. NAVY TO AWARD A CONTRACT AS A RESULT OF THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION.
