Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Dr. Marc Pedulla, Greenbelt, Maryland, for technical assistance services. The contractor shall provide technical and scientific expertise in the design, construction and operation of instrumentation associated with the next generation linescale interferometer and the ultraviolet measurement microscope system used to calibrate length and width. F.O.B. Destination, Gaithersburg, Maryland. The period of performance is 9 months from date of award. This is a sole source requirement with Dr. Pedulla because he has unique experience developed during design, construction and operation of the fine stage development in the atomic displacement metrology program and the ultraviolet measurement microscope. Dr. Pedulla developed the necessary control software for both the instruments and is therefore uniquely qualified to meet these requirements for continued consultation in the development of the instruments. Interested persons may identify their capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, the Government shall consider all responses received by the date identified above. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bonafide capability to fulfill the requirement. A quotation shall be requested from Dr. Pedulla and a purchase order shall be awarded approximately May 17, 2002. A solicitation is not available. See Note 26.
