- The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has a change to the requirement advertised on February 20, 2002. The revised requirement is for a firm fixed price contract for the manufacture and delivery of 14 Semi-Autonomous Hydrographic Reconnaissance Vehicle (SAHRV) systems, 1 spare SAHRV system, and 3 REMUS vehicles, along with associated support for these systems for FY 02. In addition, 3 spare SAHRV systems are option requirements for FY 02 and FY 03, with the associated training, repair/maintenance, logistics and support for both the SAHRV and REMUS units as option requirements for FY 03 thru FY 06. NAVSEA plans to incorporate pre-planned product improvements into the systems in the near future. As stated previously, NAVSEA intends to negotiate this effort sole source to Hydroid Incorporated, 81 Technology Park Drive, East Falmouth MA 02536. Hydroid Inc. was established with the cooperation of WHOI for the manufacture and ILS of the SAHRV. As such, Hydroid is the sole designer, developer and manufacturer of the SAHRV, and the only source capable of completing the requirement within the required timeframe to support the Navy?s needs. No other source has the technical qualification and necessary resources to either perform the work described herein, or will any other supplies or services satisfy the Navy?s requirements.
