Description
The purpose of this notice is to inform interested parties that the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to modify Contract N00024-99-C-6337, on a sole source basis, with Raytheon Company, Electronic Systems, Naval and Maritime Systems, 1847 West Main Road, Portsmouth, Rhode Island in support of the AN/AQS-20X Sonar System. The modification(s) will consist of a near term objective to design and develop a High Speed Recording System. The long-term objective is to modify the AQS-20 system to improve reliability, performance, maintainability and maintenance. This includes modification of the SLS items, a design modification of two (2) AN/AQS-20 Mine Detecting Sonar Engineering Development Models to reduce susceptibility to the static electricity generated by the helicopters rotors through the tow cable and towed body during deployment, and modification of the BIT software to enhance Power Supply Fault Isolation. Successful completion of this effort requires intimate knowledge of the AN/AQS-20X Sonar System. Raytheon Company is the sole designer, developer and integrator of the AN/AQS-20X Sonar System software. Raytheon Company is the only known source that possesses the necessary knowledge of design and operation requirements, capability, and expertise required to successfully provide these supplies and services in an accurate and timely manner while achieving a fully integrated and seamless system. The estimated period of performance is June 2002 to September 2003. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. Responses to this notice can be sent via email directly to hobbsbl@navsea.navy.mil. See Numbered Note 22!!
