Description
The National Cancer Institute, Division of Clinical Sciences, Laboratory of Pathology intends on entering into a sole source contract with Schleicher & Schuell Inc., 10 Optical Avenue, Keene, NH 03431 for Fast Slides. The Laboratory of Pathology primary focus is the advancement of common research interest in the application and development of proteomic technology to the diagnosis and treatment of human cancer, development of proteomic tools that can detect and predict therapeutic efficacy and toxicity. Fast Slides are a vital element in the production of reverse phase protein arrays. Fast Slides are comprised of a glass microscope slide with a 20 x 45mm addressable area of thin Nitrocellulose cast on the surface, the Nitrocellulose provides a highly efficient binding matrix for proteins. The slides are compatible with the Affymetrix 417 arrayer for the arraying process and the DAKO Autostainer. Reverse phase protein microarrays were developed as a method for the screening of molecular markers and pathway targets in human tissue during disease progression with a high degree of sensitivity, precision and linearity. Using this novel approach has enabled the Laboratory of Pathology to analyze the state of pro-survival proteins and pro-death proteins for microscopic transition state and malignant lesions taken from human tissue. Schleicher & Schuell Inc., is the only source known to the Government that can provide such a slide which is compatible with Affymetrix 417 arrayer and the DAKO Autostainer. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirements, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statement and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can fully meet the requirements herein. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office no later than 2:00 PM EST on May 20, 2002. This action is pursuant to 41 USC 253(1) and under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The requirement will be procured as a commercial item in accordance with FAR Part 12. The total number of Fast Slides to be procured are 208 each with an expected delivery of 8 packages every two weeks. If you have any questions, please contact Cynthia Brown, Purchasing Agent, (301) 402-4509.
