Description
May 7, 2002 Announcement: Responses to the comments and questions received on the Draft SIR have been posted at: http://www.faa.gov/nexcom/RPDE/SIRresponses04302002web.htm The FAA expects to post the responses to the comments and questions received on the Final SIR the week of May 13, 2002. There will be no change in the SIR proposal due date. Amendment 1 New files added at bottom of attachments. Deleted incorrect J-6 (pdf) and J-15 (pdf) documents. Posted correct J-6 (pdf) and J-15 (pdf) documents. Original Announcement: The FAA releases the final Screening Information Request (SIR). The NEXCOM Ground System Program will design, develop, and produce the cost-effective and logistically supportable ground network/switching communications components required to integrate the NEXCOM Multi-mode Digital Radio with the existing voice switches and the FAA backbone data routers. The resulting integrated system will provide air/ground communications including backward compatible analog voice, as well as the new VHF Digital Link Mode 3-based voice and ATN subnetwork data. This scalable system will be deployed first in the en-route domain and subsequently in the terminal, tower and flight service station environments. The FAA has reviewed the comments submitted by industry and has incorporated the comments where appropriate. A complete list of all comments received and the FAA's response will be posted on the AND-360 website within the next week. Reference material not readily available to offerors will be posted on the NEXCOM web page. The FAA shall not be liable for any costs associated with the preparation of comments/responses to this public announcement or SIR. Questions/comments to this SIR may be provided to Mr. Matthew Asai, ASU-330, Federal Aviation Administration, 800 Independence Avenue S.W., Washington D.C. 20591 or via email at Matt.Asai@faa.gov. See attached table of contents for a complete list of documents contained in this SIR. The contracting officer will not respond to telephonic requests for information. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (17-APR-2002). IT ACTUALLY FIRST APPEARED ON THE FEDBIZOPPS SYSTEM ON 10-MAY-2002.
