- Description
- The Postal Service intends to award a Fixed Price Contract for the demolition and installation of new air conditioning equipment, associated pumps and water towers in the Headquarters building located at 475 L?Enfant Plaza, Washington, DC. There are two 1360-ton chillers curretnly in service, and a 15?X 20? hole will have to be cut in the roof for the replacement of this equipment. The resulting hole will be designed so that when the roof is closed, the new portion will be bordered by an expansion joint and will be removable. The water towers are accessible from the roof, and replacement includes heat trace systems, control valves and filtering system. The existing catwalk is to be reused, modified or replaced. This project will require permits to allow for the positioning of equipment that will be needed for the removal and installation of equipment. New equipment must be compatible and fully operational with the Siemans System 600 Apogee energy management system. Affected electrical, fire alarm, lighting, plumbing and masonry work is included in the scope of work. Construction cost is estimated to be between $1,500,000 and $2,000,000. Completion time for the entire project is 300 calendar days to be indicated in the Notice to Proceed. The contractor must provide all material, labor, tools, supplies, equipment, transportation, superintendence, and all other services necessary to complete the project as described in the contract documents. Final execution of the contact will be subject to approval by the Postal Service.
