- NA Description of Work: The United States Army Corps of Engineers intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Contract for construction services: The work under this contract will include construction of the levee and the railroad embankment for 2-mainline and 6-sid ing tracks up to the railroad subbase. Total earthen fill is approximately 1.7 million cubic yards. Earth fill may be obtained from adjacent government furnished borrow areas and/or offsite borrow areas. The levee height varies up to approximately 18 fe et. Appurtenances to be constructed include an access road, railroad spur line, one-channel cutoff, one-stoplog gap, one-sandbag gap, four-gravity drainage structures, two-box culverts, and a railroad catch basin/drainage system. In addition, riprap and aggregate surfacing will be included. Seeding and mulching of the levee will be required as well as native grass seeding and tree plantings for a wetlands mitigation area at the site. The work under this contract will be one component of an overall proje ct sponsored by the Kansas Department of Transportation. Work on the other components including new US 36 and US 77 overpasses will be performed by others concurrently with the work under this contract. The magnitude of this proposed procurement is betw een $10,000,000 and $25,000,000. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this project is 234990 and the Standard Industrial Code (SIC) is 1629. The Small Business size standard is $17 Million. This solicitation is unrestricte d. Bids will be accepted from all interested responsible and responsive parties. The estimated time of completion is 1150 days after notice to proceed. Solicitation DACW41-02-B-0008 will be available on or about 05 June 2003. Proposals will be due on or about 06 August 2002. The solicitation will be issued on CD-ROM only. Hard copies will not be available. Copies of the CD-ROM are limited to one per firm.
