Description
Under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation, Part 13, Subpart 13.106-1(b), the U.S. Department of the Interior, BIA, Office of Indian Education Programs (OIEP) intends to contract on a sole source basis the services of Black Hills Special Services (BHSS) & Technology and Innovations in Education (TIE) in the areas of curriculum and technology for the Pine Ridge School, Pine Ridge, South Dakota. BHSS & TIE will assist in the collection of appropriate data to create a school profile, and design a professional development plan based on these goals, resources, and data. The consultant will participant in the clarification and customization of the state standards for curriculum in the areas of Social Sciences and Language Arts; and they will assist in the development of a school curriculum document with assessment. BHSS & TIE is a nonprofit organization with an advisory board and Dean of Education representatives from across the state of South Dakota who meet periodically to review and make recommendations for new service direction and set priorities. They provide much of the consultant work in education and technology for the state education department and local schools. Their consultants have demonstrated expertise in the areas of school curriculum and the integration of technology within the classroom settings. BHSS & TIE is the only available technical assistance center for curriculum and technology within the state of South Dakota and they are location a little over 100 miles north of Pine Ridge School. They have experience assisting Indian tribes in the Southwest with customizing their standards to reflect their culture. The curriculum document is culturally sensitive, represented by its overall design, and concurrently adheres to the text, standards, benchmarks, strategies, and other components, which follow the state standard requirements. This document reflects the nuances of the local community and their additional desired standards. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which, if timely received, shall be considered by the agency. If no affirmative written response is received within 5 calendar days from the publication of this synopsis, a contract may be issued to the proposed contractor without further notice.
