Description
The U.S. Border Patrol is searching for more efficient and cost effective tools to accomplish its mission of deterrence and apprehension of illegal entrants. The selection of electronic products proposed may include prototype or limited production devices as well as COTS (commercial off the shelf) products. Military products have been considered, in the past due to their hardened configuration and durability. The Immigration and Naturalization Service, Dallas, Texas is issuing a sources sought synopsis for an ultra-light night vision device. The synopsis will be distributed solely through the General Services Administration's Federal Business Opportunities web site http://www.fedbizopps.gov/. The government is seeking product information and availibility on the following item. Night vision device kit, which has the following aspects or qualities: Utilization of a CCD light sensor with a .0002-LUX or greater sensitivity to light. Detection of near infrared light in addition to visible light; weighs approximately 10 ounces, without battery (power unit and goggles together). The unit should have a 4X or more electronic zoom, utilization of a COTS battery, and have external ports for cameras or video sources. The unit should have a built in capability for satellite communications and expansion capability for an onboard-uncooled infrared detector with no modification to existing unit. Unit should use LED illuminators, which are shielded to emit no visible light when turned on, and have optional extender lens. Device when worn should allow operator to see forward with un-obscured vision. Device should be able to be used as a PC monitor when connected to a SVGA connection. Output from device should be able to be connected via SVGA/Composite Video/S-video connectors. Unit must be ruggedized for exterior/out in the weather operation, suitable for regular nightly operations.
