Description
NA The Technology Applications Office at Fort Detrick MD is issuing this notice as a Request for Information announcement. There is no intention of issuing a solicitation at or awarding a contract at this time. We are looking for a contractors who can provide a fully integrated Receive Only L-Band satellite system for the receipt of high resolution weather satellite imagery from geostationary weather satellites. Satellite operators that this system shall receive include GOES (USA), EUMETSAT (Europe), MTSAT (J apan), and the FY series (China) - The requirement is for an antenna 3 meters or smaller in diameter, L-Band, an LRIT/HRIT/WEFAX compatible DSP Data receiver and portable computer system for processing of images received. - The system design shall comply with the DOD Joint Technical Architecture (JTA). In addition to meeting the requirements of this specification, the system shall be packaged so all containers can be transported by one person. - The system shall meet the following minimum operating standards: Receiver Bandwidth at least 1 MHz, Demodulator output of Pulse Code Modulation with a bit rate of 166.66 Kbps, and a 10.5 dB/K Gain to Noise ratio (G/T) at 1691 MHz. Receive polarization i s linear horizontal. - System shall operate using 24Volts DC and 120/240 VAC 60-440HZ. - System shall pack up as small as possible, ideally one man transportable. - System DSP receiver, computer and peripherals shall be integrated into one briefcase-like container that is protected against shock, vibration, and elements when configured for transport. - System shall include any equipment necessary for descrambling or decryption of scrambled or encrypted channels, such as Eumetsat?s HRIT signals. - System shall provide limited tracking ability for satellites with decaying orbit or wobble. -System software shall include capability to use meteorological enhancement curves on imagery. -System software shall include capability to determine lat/long on imagery and the ability to calculate distance and azimuth from user defined points on the imagery. - Interested vendors may contact Mr. Patrick Grove at pat.grove@tao.army.mil.
