NA Q ? Has this been done before? A ? Yes. Q ? If so, by whom? A ? Advance Imaging Systems Q ? Do the documents span film cartridges? For example, could a document begin on one roll and end on a second? A ? Yes. Q ? What is the average page count per section? A ? There is no set page count average. Q ? When will the award be announced. A ? At this time there has been no determination for date of award. Q ? What exactly is considered to be a PDF file? A ? A file per section. Q ? What is the film image reduction ratio? A ? This requirement asks that the contractor reproduce images to be as good or better in quality than the original. There is no image reduction ratio data available. Q ? Will the Army require access to any of the images in question while in the contractor?s possession? If so, is there a required response time/method? A ? Yes, ASAP. If there is a need for the Army Research Office (ARO) to access ARO microfilm in a contractor?s possession, the contractor will provide the microfilm requested, overnight delivery, the day of request,if requested before close of normal busi ness hours. Shipping to be paid by ARO. Q ? Will ARO supply a computerized spreadsheet listing all contracts contained on a given cartridge? A ? No. Q ? Will ARO supply the page count for each contract? A ? No. Q ? Is there requisite funding in place to make an award in the near future? A ? Yes, there is requisite funding for this project. Q ? Is there a CAR system in place or an index for the film? A ? Shall we assume the document types are: AGREEMENTS; ACRN; EVALUATIONS; FISCAL; CLOSEOUTS; GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE; INVENTION & PATENTS; PROPERTY; PROGRESS REPORTS; AND, TECHNICAL REPORTS? A ? Yes. Q ? If yes will they be consistent for the whole project? A ? No. Q ? Your specs depict a 2 level index structure, i.e., file and document within a file. If this is correct how may files or proposal numbers are there? A ? This is a 3 level index structure. The number files range from 0001 ? 50,000. Q ? Can a sample index locator card be provided for vendor review prior to the response date? A ? Yes. Q ? What is the desired term of contract and project completion time. A ? At this time there is no determination for period of performance. Q ? What resolution does the film need to be scanned at? A ? This requirement asks that the contractor reproduce images to be as good or better in quality than the original. Q ? Was the microfilm created using a planetary camera or a rotary camera? A ? That information is not available, nor will it affect the requirements requested. Q ? What is the approximate average number of section per roll of microfilm? A ? This varies depending on the amount of pages per section. Q ? Does ARO prefer to complete the project within any specific period of time? For example, ARO may have a mission critical need to quickly complete the project or conversely have internal QC plans which govern the rate at which it is capable of inspecti ng and accepting deliverables. If a preferred delivery schedule exists, please identify the timeframe? A ? At this time there are no mission critical needs that would affect delivery, nor are there any anticipated.
