Description
The Government has a requirement for two similar rail kits. The M240B Accessory Rail Kit attaches to the front part of the M240B Machine Gun and provides two (2) MIL-STD 1913 rail surfaces used for mounting various optical devices and accessories. The item is envisioned to be NC machine fabricated from predominately 7075 T73 Aluminum Alloy and requires a hard anodize treatment and lusterless black finish. There are no cast parts and none are desired. No deviations to the drawing materials, treatment, or finish will be permitted. The contractor shall fabricate the item in accordance with USG drawings, inspect them in accordance with USG Quality Assurance Provisions (QAP), and package them in accordance with USG Special Packaging Instructions (SPI). The quantities involved are approximately 2150 for FY02, 500-1500 for FY03 and 500-1500 for FY04. The contractor must be able to sustain a delivery schedule of 300 per month. A similar requirement for a quantity of 14,100 M249 Front Rail Assemblies to be procured in FY02. There may be possible follow-on requirements of 5,000 to 10,000 rails per year for FY03 through FY07. The rails will be machined from Aluminum alloy 7075-T73 or 7075-T7351 per specification ASTM B221 or B211. The rails must be black hard anodized per MIL- A-8625, Type 111, Class 2. The profile of the rails will be made in accordance to MIL-STD-1913. The contractor shall fabricate the item in accordance with USG drawings, inspect them in accordance with USG Quality Assurance Provisions (QAP), and package them in accordance with USG Special Packaging Instructions (SPI). The contractor must be able to sustain a delivery schedule of 500 per month. There will be a First Article Test quantity for both types of rails. Notes 1 and 26 apply.
