Description
The National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) intends to procure two (2) each off-the-shelf oceanographic data collection modules with 2 multi-parameter sensors units to collect oceanographic data in a maintenance free mode. Parameters for sensor 1 include pressure, temperature, salinity, oxygen, pH, and redox levels. Specifications for these are given below. Parameters for sensor 2 include, but are not limited to, fluorometry, turbidity, nutrients, chlorophyll, and others. The sensor units will be housed in a waterproof box and configured to connect with a specially designed NDBC Oceanographic Sensor Interface Controller (NOSIC) (8 inches x 10 inches x 4 inches). The box should not exceed dimensions of 30 inches x 16 inches x 10 inches to ensure placement on a 3-meter buoy. The system is to be a modular design for future upgrades to accept 2 additional multi-parameter sensor packages. Future sensor packages will need to be made compatible with the sensor housing box and the NDBC payload. The weight is not to exceed 50 pounds. All electronics, sensors and associated equipment must operate between -10 degrees and 50 degrees C. The system must operate autonomously for a minimum of 4 months, have a self contained anti-foulant system, and operate with a pumping system. The equipment must be able to withstand harsh conditions subject to extremes in weather, winds, and waves; it must withstand the impacts of buoy motions. Power requirements are as follows: Pumping system: not to exceed 3 amps; Cleaning system: not to exceed 5 amps; Sensor packages: not to exceed .5 amps each; Voltage: 12 volts nominal system. The module will be mounted on an NDBC 3 meter buoy with all the electronics integrated into the NOSIC and NDBC payload. Oceanographic data collected by the module will be processed and transmitted in real time via GOES. Sensor Specifications: PRESSURE: Range - 0 to 10 dB; Accuracy - .1 dB; Resolution - 0.1 dB; Time Constant - 50 mSec; Sensor Technology - strain gage. TEMPERATURE: Range - -5 to +50 deg C; Accuracy - 0.003 deg C; Resolution - 0.0005 deg C; Time Constant - 50 mSec; Sensor Technology - 100 ohm Platinum. CONDUCTIVITY: Range - 0 to 64 mS/cm; Accuracy - 0.003 mS/cm; Resolution - 0.001 mS/cm; Time Constant - 50 mSec; Sensor Technology - Platinum electrode. OXYGEN: Range - 0 to 50 ppm; Accuracy - 0.1 ppm; Resolution - 0.01 ppm; Time Constant - 3 Sec. OXYGEN: Range - 0 to 500% sat; Accuracy - 1.0% sat; Resolution - 0.1% sat; Time Constant - 3 Sec. PH: Range - 0 to 14 pH; Accuracy - 0.01 pH; Resolution - 0.001 pH; Time Constant - 3 Sec. REDOX: Range - -1000 to +1000 mV; Accuracy - 1.0 mV; Resolution - 0.1 mV; Time Constant - 3 Sec. Delivery FOB Destination 60 days after receipt of order. FOB Destination. Interested parties must provide Descriptive Literature on system proposed. Requests must be in writing either fax or e-mail. Requests must include address and phone number as there is no electronic version of this solicitation. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (27-MAY-2002). IT ACTUALLY FIRST APPEARED ON THE FEDBIZOPPS SYSTEM ON 28-MAY-2002.
