Description
NA Defense Contracting Command - Washington intends to, on behalf of Army Research Institute, negotiate a purchase order, on a sole source basis, with Steamboat Leadership Institute. The suggested source, MR. Michael Shaler, developed the Unit-Focued Leaders hip Development Program for units within the U.S. Armey Forces Command (FORSCOM). Beginning with a pilot program in 1993, the program has been updated by Mr. Shaler over the years. Mr. Shaler has been the sole coordinator for this program and has develop ed the content, coordinated the program with other commands and facilitated hundreds of seminars with the leaders of the units involved in the Program. The objective of this contract effort is to document the initiation, development and implementation of a unit focused leadership development program. The period of performance will be for 5 months from date of award. Task 1: Describe the background and composition of the Unit-Focused Leadership Development Program. The description will include, but not be limited to, history of the Program; relationships between leadership theory and academic leadership research results, Army Leadership doctrine, and leadership research conducted by the U.S. Army; structured and focused observer feedback; utitilization o f survey feedback in the assessment of the leadership climate in the unit; and Home Station Leadership Seminars. The Deliverables will be: Three Research Reports: (1) Overall Program description, (2) Outline of the structured and focused feedback by ext ernal, expert observers, and (3) Utilization of survey feedback int he assessment of the leadership climate in the unit.
