Description
Operate and maintain a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) Specimen Inventory and Retrieval System (CASPIR) to ensure that valuable collections of primarily human biological materials, including blood components, tissue, bacterial isolates, DNA, and other biological and environmental specimens, obtained through CDC programs and activities are properly inventoried, securely stored, maintained, managed, and when needed, retrieved and delivered. The total capacity of CASPIR is in excess of 6 million specimens. Specimens/collections are stored under controlled optimal conditions in one Government-owned location. CDC's Archival Specimen Tracking and Retrieval Operations (ASTRO) database system is used to catalog, store, track, and retrieve specimens. Operate a courier service two times daily to transport specimens to and from the CDC facilities at Lawrenceville, Clifton Road and Chamblee. Issue date O/A June 14, 2002 with a closing date approximately 30 days thereafter. This contract will be for one year with four one-year option renewal periods. Proposals will be evaluated on the technical approach and understanding of the requirement, qualifications of the key personnel, corporate or company resources and experience in similar work. Pre-proposal/site visit is tentatively scheduled for June 24, 2002. No telephone or fax requests will be accepted. The RFP will be available for downloading at www.eps.gov. The NAICS code for this project is 561210 which has a small business size standard of $6 million.
