Description
The United States General Services Administration (GSA) invites industry, to participate in an eAuthentication Industry Day concerning the Federal Government?s eAuthentication initiative. As one of the 24- E-Government initiatives, this initiative is key in the government?s program to improve efficiency and effectiveness through the use of improved technology. The goals of the E-Government initiatives are to eliminate redundant systems and significantly improve the government?s quality of service for citizens and businesses. eAuthentication is envisioned as a service that will be provided to and through the FirstGov.gov portal. It will provide authentication services to the other E-Government initiatives, and eventually across Government lines of business, allowing citizens, government entities, and their employees, businesses, and other institutions to conduct authenticated interactions. It will also leverage and interoperate with existing credential management infrastructures, including components and services. The government is currently engaged in an Authentication Gateway prototype development effort that will focus on demonstrating feasibility, exploring technical agency and application interface issues, identifying various information policy issues, and developing a set of requirements to be used as part of a full and open competitive solicitation, planned for early FY03. Mark Forman will deliver the opening remarks and the eAuthentication Integrated Project Team will provide information on the initiative to include mission, vision, goals, and objectives. There will be a detailed discussion of the Authentication Gateway, acquisition strategy, and other important information. The eAuthentication team is interested in hearing from Industry - this forum will provide that opportunity. The eAuthentication Industry Day is on Tuesday, June 18, 2002, from 9:00AM until 12:00 noon at the Department of Commerce Auditorium located at 14th Street NW and Constitution Avenue. Parking is available at the Reagan Center and the Federal Triangle Metro stop is the most convenient to the Department of Commerce. Please Register for Industry Day at www.cio.gov/eauthentication. Seating is limited. You must be registered to attend this event. Registration will close on Friday June 14, 2002. The registration list will be provided to Department of Commerce Security personnel and your name must appear on the list to gain admission. Picture ID is required upon arrival.
