Description

The USDA intends to issue a Request for Proposals for Phase 3 of the planned eight-phase Agriculture South Building Modernization. The Agriculture South Building was built in phases between 1930 and 1936, and is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The work includes removal of existing materials and provision of new ceilings, lighting, mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, security, and fire protection systems. Existing public corridors and lobbies shall be preserved and restored by historic restoration specialists. While the construction area will be vacated of tenants, and shall be isolated by the contractor from the adjacent occupied building areas, the contractor must provide protected corridors through the construction zone. The estimated cost is over $10,000,000. This procurement is unrestricted. The Government will evaluate proposals using source selection procedures with the intent to award a firm-fixed price contract to the responsible offeror whose proposal, conforms to the solicitation, as the Best Value to the Government, price and technical factors considered. The Government requires contractors to submit a price and technical proposal. Each proposal shall contain the offeror's best technical proposal and best price. PROPOSERS ARE ADVISED THAT THE GOVERNMENT INTENDS TO EVUALUATE PROPOSALS AND AWARD WITHOUT DISCUSSIONS OR ANY CONTACT CONCERNING THE PROPOSALS RECEIVED. RFP ISSUE DATE: The Government intends to issue the Request for Proposals on or about 31 July 2002. Proposals will be due around 6 Sep 2002. The exact date will be stipulated in the RFP. The solicitation will be available and distributed solely through the General Services Administration's Federal Business Opportunities web site http://www.fedbizopps.gov/. The site provides downloading instructions. All future information about this acquisition, including solicitation amendments, will also be distributed solely through the web site. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this site to ensure they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition.
