Description

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with the Anatomical Travelogue, Inc., New York, NY 10018, under authority 41 U.S.C. 253 (c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(b)(1) for the specialized work in creating a full color moving hologram, including human tissues namely, muscle, cardiovascular organs, internal organs and the skeleton. For the Dream Anatomie Exhibit in the NLM rotunda to begin in September 2002, NLM has a request to have Anatomical Travelogue created a full color moving hologram. The hologram will show a human, Atlas, holding the globe while standing up. Depending on the direction of the spectator's motion (from left to right or from right to left) Atlas will shift the globe from one shoulder to the other. This moving, full color Atlas Hologram will be an integral component of the Dream Anatomie Exhibit at NLM. This moving, full color Atlas Hologram is a part of the Visible Human Project in which Anatomical Travelogue helped develop and create art work and animation work based on the project. Anatomical Travelogue holds exclusively the right to use their art work and animation work for this project. NLM has determined that Anatomical Travelogue is the only known source with the unique resources who can successfully carry out the functions within the time constraint. This is a notice of intent and not a Request for Quotations (RFQ), nor is a RFQ available; however, all responsible and responsive sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by NLM. Firms interested in responding to this notice must be able to provide the professional service as specified and listed above. Responses should sufficiently demonstrate the firm's ability to meet the government's requirements. Responses are required within fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this notice.
